Casemiro helped Manchester United to a 3-1 win over champions Reading as Eric ten Haag advanced to the next round.
Eric ten Hag has named Manchester United’s strong line-up and it has paid off. An energetic and racy performance didn’t quite match from the half-time stand, but two beautiful goals from Casemiro and three quick goals in the second half, including one from Fred, made Manchester United worthy of progress.
A natural choice, Casemiro turned out to be Manchester United’s best midfield performance, scoring a superb goal four minutes later before shooting from 30 yards. I wish I had avoided the suspension against Arsenal last weekend.
Andy Carroll had a very difficult night. Reading was withheld for so long that he found himself too deep to be effective. He also made two clumsy tackles that looked red midway through the second half.
The Red Devils have a chance to secure their spot in the domestic final as they face Nottingham Forest in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg. They won the first leg 3-0 so it should be relatively routine for Ten Hag`s men
