Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. suffered racist abuse from Mallorca fans during LaLiga match

Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr. was subjected to racist abuse by Real Mallorca fans during a La Liga match at the Son Moix stadium on Sunday.

Fans in the stadium’s home area were caught by DAZN in a video directing racial slurs towards the Brazilian international Madrid striker.

Vinicius has fouled 10 times in a dismal match for the Balearics, making him the most fouled player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

He was also targeted by the stands as Mallorca decided not to make public statements about the conduct of certain parts of the stands.

This is the third time Vinicius has faced racist attacks during a La Liga match. The first incident occurred at his Nou Camp against Barcelona in November 2021, and he suffered the same fate against Valladolid in December 2022.

A Madrid public prosecutor decided not to press charges in the Catalunya case after arguing that the chant in question did not constitute a crime because it “lasted for several seconds.”

Vinicius objected to La Liga’s lack of action, accusing La Liga of doing nothing to keep racism and other forms of prejudice out of the game, and Javier Tebas later said that Spain’s He called the allegations against the Top Division “unfair and untrue.”

Vinicius was also involved in a hate crime investigation by Spanish police after a mannequin wearing his number 20 shirt was hung from a bridge ahead of Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey derby against neighbors Atlético Madrid on January 26.
